Kelty Trekker Backpacks

The Kelty Trekker backpack product line, is perhaps, one of the most successful outdoor backpack product lines ever to have existed. It has had a great number of rave reviews across the internet, as well as being recommended by almost everybody I meet offline too!

What makes the Kelty Trekker such a good backpack?

It is simple. Large storage capacity. Relatively lightweight for the amount of storage capacity you get. Probably the most comfortable, yet functional external frame backpack on the market; What's not to like about it?

There are two versions of the Kelty trekker backpack. One is called the Kelty trekker 65, because it has a storage capacity of 65 litres and the other version is called the Kelty trekker 64, because it has a storage capacity of 64 litres.
Kelty has the slogan "Go Anywhere" and nothing embraces that slogan better than the Kelty trekker backpacks. They are specifically designed for long, hard and heavy journeys. The main difference between an external frame backpack and an internal frame backpack, is quite large. In general, most external frame backpacks are designed for long distance walks, whereas internal frame backpacks, tend to be designed for trips that require a lot less gear and are shorter than 1-2 days. If you are planning a serious hike, camp or walk, then you must use an external backpack, otherwise you will simply hate the time that you spend in the wild.

The reason that you must have a Kelty trekker if you are venturing into the wild, is because they are designed to be almost indestructible. Most internal frame backpacks might last you a few years, but an external frame backpack will last you a lifetime.

There are many features of the Kelty trekker backpacks that are present in both the Kelty trekker 65 external frame backpack and the Kelty trekker 64 external frame backpack. These include adjustable suspension, which is crucial for comfort and something that you should spend a lot of time setting up in order to get it perfect, before you go walking. This is something that a lot of people will not do. From past experience I can tell you that there is nothing worse than waking up with terrible back pains because your backpack was not fitted properly. This is even worse when you still have 50+ miles to go!

Another fantastic feature of both version of the Kelty trekker, is the dual density foam waist belt. This makes the backpack feel so much more comfortable when you are carrying it, because it prevents the waist belt from cutting into your waist, which is very irritating and painful on long journeys.

Perhaps the best thing about the Kelty trekker line is the price! They both cost around $140, which is very reasonable for an external frame backpack.
To summarise, I would say that if you are at all interested in comfort, usability and having fun on your next outdoor adventure, and you don't want to pay through your nose for it, then you should seriously consider giving the Kelty trekker backpacks a try!
